3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and personalize the platform, including search, messaging, reviews, and availability calendars.
  • Process engineer subscriptions and deliver transactional emails such as confirmations, quotes, and reminders.
  • Display pricing in your region's currency ($1.0/month USD) so you know the exact subscription cost.
  • Prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, monitor misuse, and keep the platform safe.
  • Verify engineer identity and maintain trust in the marketplace.
  • Analyze aggregated activity to troubleshoot performance, plan new features, and improve our marketing.
  • Comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and maintain records for accounting/audit purposes.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

We rely on the following legal grounds under UK/EU law:

  • Contract: delivering the marketplace experience you signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests: improving services, preventing abuse, and securing our systems.
  • Consent: optional marketing updates or cookies that require opt-in.
  • Legal obligations: bookkeeping, taxation, and responding to official requests.

5. Sharing & Processors

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with trusted processors that help us run the business:

  • PayPal (subscription billing), Stripe (if enabled in future).
  • Email delivery (e.g., Amazon SES, Mailgun) and cloud hosting partners.
  • Analytics and monitoring tools (Google Analytics, Sentry, server logs).
  • Professional advisors, auditors, or law enforcement if legally required.

All processors are bound by confidentiality agreements and data processing terms.

6. International Transfers

We store data in the UK and EU, but some processors may operate outside your country. When we transfer information, we rely on adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses to protect your rights.

7. Data Retention

We keep profile and transaction data while your account is active and for up to six years thereafter for legal and audit purposes. Messages and reviews may be retained longer if needed for dispute resolution. Identity documents are stored in restricted local server storage and retained only as long as needed to verify engineers and comply with legal obligations. You can request deletion of your account, but we may retain limited records to comply with law or prevent repeat abuse.

8. Security Measures

We enforce HTTPS, hashed passwords, role-based access, monitoring for suspicious login activity, and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, so please use strong passwords and report any suspected incidents immediately.

9. Cookies & Tracking

Essential cookies keep you logged in and enable security features. Analytics cookies help us understand aggregate usage. You can adjust browser settings to limit cookies, though some features may not work properly without them.

  • Access, correct, or export your profile information.
  • Request deletion of your account and related data.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing, especially marketing.
